Pahalgam is one of the destination in Kashmir famous for Trekking and Viewpoints. It is located at an altitude of 7000 feet above mean sea level. It is one of starting point of Amarnath Yatra as another starting point is from Baltal.
Directions from Srinagar –
From Srinagar ,You can reach Pahalgam by Car. Distance between Srinagar to Pahalgam is 88 km by Road. There are also State transport buses from Srinagar to Pahalgam, as I m not sure on the frquency, I don’t wanted to comment on it and recommend reach by Car for your convenience. The minimum time to reach Pahalgam from Srinagar is 2h 40m.
Best time to Enjoy –
Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg – All these places are located in different directions from Srinagar as you notice in the Map. I would suggest , spend one day for each of these destinations to enjoy , that includes the travel time to reach the destination and return to Srinagar. I personally feel, the Month of March will be enjoyable for Pahalgam . The climate will be very cool and the mountains dressing in white will be a treat to Watch. If you are lover of Gardens , then prefer to go in the month of June.
As far as Kashmir is concerned, 144 is very common and Kashmiri natives seems they are used to it . on our first day visit , we came to know that 144 is imposed on Srinagar from 6 AM to 6 PM and we needed to start our Journey before 6 AM and need to go out of Srinagar City .

In the Month of March, it may not be green, but in the Month of June , it will be colorful

On the way to Pahalgham , we had a short break for Tea. I heard that, there are five rivers that flows through Kashmir. Absolutely there will not be any water scarcity for these people.

—————– Pahalgam will be concluded in Next with Viewpoints
